Patna Police Crack Down on Drug Smuggling Network, Seize Contraband Worth Rs 20 Lakh
In a significant operation, Patna Police have arrested three alleged drug smugglers and confiscated a large cache of banned intoxicants, including injections and tablets, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 20 lakh. The arrests were made late on Saturday night near a fuel station in the Agamkuan area, following a specific tip-off received by the authorities.
Late-Night Raid Leads to Major Seizure
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, police officers conducted a search of the suspects, leading to the initial recovery of prohibited drugs. Based on confessions obtained from the arrested individuals, law enforcement then carried out a subsequent raid at a location in Zakariapur, situated within Ram Krishna Nagar.
This follow-up operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of banned substances. The confiscated items included 10,800 Alprazolam tablets and 10,600 Avil injections, along with various other injections and a motorcycle believed to be used in the illicit activities.
Investigation Uncovers Interstate Drug Supply Chain
Senior Superintendent of Police (East) Parichay Kumar provided details on the case, stating that the accused individuals have admitted to sourcing the drugs from other states through parcel services. This revelation points to a broader, interstate network involved in the smuggling and distribution of these banned intoxicants.
The police plan to take the arrested smugglers on remand to further investigate and trace the entire supply chain. This step is crucial for identifying and apprehending other individuals involved in the network, potentially leading to more arrests and seizures in the future.
Ongoing Efforts to Curb Drug Menace
This operation underscores the continuous efforts by Patna Police to combat drug trafficking in the region. The seizure of such a large quantity of banned injections and tablets highlights the scale of the issue and the proactive measures being taken by law enforcement to address it.
The successful bust serves as a warning to other potential offenders and demonstrates the police's commitment to maintaining public safety and health by disrupting illegal drug trade activities.
