Retired PMCH Doctor Files Police Complaint Over Crore Property Encroachment in Patna
A serious property dispute has emerged in Patna, where a retired doctor from the prestigious Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has accused a local builder of illegally encroaching on her valuable Sri Krishnapuri property, reportedly worth several crores of rupees. The retired medical professional, Dr. Veena Bhatia, has alleged that the builder employed intimidation tactics in an attempt to force a distress sale of the prime real estate.
Police Investigation Launched Following Formal Complaint
The matter came to official attention when Dr. Bhatia lodged a formal complaint at the local police station three days prior to the current developments. In response, police authorities have initiated a thorough investigation, seeking documentary evidence from both parties involved in the dispute. Secretariat SDPO-II, Saket Kumar, confirmed to media outlets that the issue surfaced after Dr. Bhatia approached law enforcement with her grievances.
"The other party has claimed that they had an agreement with the property owner and had paid some money," stated SDPO Kumar. "Notices have been issued to both sides to submit evidence. The investigating officer has asked the accused to provide proof of any payments or agreements, but no response has been received yet. Investigation is ongoing, and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty."
Pattern of Harassment and Intimidation Alleged
According to Dr. Bhatia's detailed account, the harassment campaign began shortly after she relocated from Patna to Delhi, ostensibly to escape mounting pressure regarding her property. Following her move, miscreants allegedly started encroaching on shops located within her property complex. Alerted by neighboring shopkeepers about these unauthorized activities, Dr. Bhatia returned to Patna to personally intervene in the situation.
The retired doctor now claims that she faces routine surveillance and intimidation whenever she steps out of her Boring Road residence, which falls under the jurisdiction of the SK Puri police station. She has explicitly alleged that the accused individuals have been systematically attempting to force her to flee Patna and surrender her valuable property through these coercive tactics.
Coercive Negotiation Tactics Described in Complaint
In her formal police complaint, Dr. Bhatia provided specific details about how the alleged harassment unfolded. She stated that a man named Anoop Kumar initially approached her with what appeared to be genuine negotiations to purchase the property. However, when she insisted on a proper valuation based on current market rates, his behavior reportedly turned coercive and aggressive.
The complainant alleges that Kumar took her original property documents under the pretext of "inspection," then proceeded to draft a sale agreement without her knowledge or consent. Furthermore, he reportedly began pressuring existing shop tenants to vacate the premises despite no final deal being negotiated or finalized between the parties.
Background Verification of Accused Underway
Police authorities are conducting comprehensive background checks on the accused individual as part of their investigation. "Detailed statements are being recorded, including from the complainant," added SDPO Kumar. "Police are also verifying the background of the other party. Initial checks show the person previously worked with Airtel in a technical role and has recently moved into real estate. No criminal record has surfaced so far, but inquiries are underway across police stations to ascertain any past involvement in intimidation or similar offences."
The case highlights growing concerns about property disputes and alleged strong-arm tactics in urban real estate markets, particularly involving vulnerable property owners facing pressure from aggressive developers. The Patna police have assured that their investigation will be thorough and impartial, with appropriate legal action to follow based on the evidence collected from both sides of this contentious property dispute.
