Palamu Police Crack Down on Notorious Gang, Arrest Eight Criminals Linked to Prince Khan
In a significant breakthrough against organized crime in Jharkhand, a coordinated police operation in Palamu district has led to the arrest of eight individuals connected to the infamous gangster Prince Khan. The joint team, comprising personnel from Sadar and Parwa police stations along with the Tiger Mobile unit, apprehended the criminals who were allegedly planning to extort officials involved in a major highway construction project.
Mastermind Amit Chowdhury's Foiled Extortion Scheme
Among those arrested, Amit Chowdhury alias Ritik (25) has emerged as a key figure in the criminal network. According to police investigations, Ritik had been specifically tasked by Prince Khan to execute a terror campaign targeting officials deputed at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) 4-lane construction site between Chiyanki and Singra locations.
"Ritik was directed by Prince Khan to create fear through gunfire as a terror tactic," revealed Palamu Superintendent of Police Reeshma Ramesan during a press conference on Friday. "Upon successful completion of this mission, he was promised a passport for Malaysia as a reward. However, our police team effectively contained his activities before he could achieve his objectives."
The criminal group had attempted to unleash terror by opening fire on three separate occasions since January 18, but all these attempts were unsuccessful due to heightened police vigilance in the area.
Arrests and Seizures Across Multiple Locations
The police operation culminated on Thursday when all eight accused were apprehended from various locations between Chiyanki and Singra. Following their arrest, the individuals have been forwarded to judicial custody. The complete list of those arrested includes:

During the operation, police made substantial recoveries that included:
- Two desi pistols and two kattas
- Four magazines
- Fourteen rounds of live ammunition
- Seven mobile phones
- Three motorcycles
- A "terror leaflet" containing threatening messages
Revealing Criminal Network and International Connections
Police investigations have uncovered that Ritik already has seven criminal cases registered against him, indicating his established involvement in illegal activities. More significantly, the operation has exposed a sophisticated criminal alliance between two notorious gangsters.
"Gangsters Prince Khan and Sujit Sinha have joined forces to execute extortion through terror tactics," explained SP Reeshma Ramesan. "While Khan operates from outside India, Sinha manages operations within the country, creating a transnational criminal network."
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan provided further insight into their operational strategy: "According to their agreement, if any organized crime is successfully executed, Sujit Sinha's name would be promoted within criminal circles. However, if the crime fails or the perpetrators are caught, Prince Khan's name would be highlighted instead."
New Criminal Tactics and Additional Suspects
The police have identified this as a novel approach adopted by the gangster group to manipulate legal proceedings. "Sinha seeks to claim credit when crimes are executed successfully, but when plans collapse, Khan's name is deliberately forwarded to authorities," elaborated SP Ramesan. "This strategy is designed to gain legal advantage since Khan operates from outside India's jurisdiction."
Further investigations have revealed that another individual operating under the alias Kuber serves as a primary link between the two gangsters, facilitating communication and coordination of their criminal activities. Police are currently pursuing leads to apprehend this additional suspect and dismantle the complete network.
This successful police operation represents a significant blow to organized crime in the region and demonstrates law enforcement's commitment to protecting infrastructure projects and public officials from criminal intimidation.
