Delivery Executive Alleges Police Intimidation in Noida Death Case
A 26-year-old delivery executive who became a crucial eyewitness in the tragic death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta has come forward with serious allegations against Noida police personnel. Moninder Singh claims officers attempted to coerce him into providing statements that would support their official version of events surrounding the incident.
Allegations of Scripted Testimony and Intimidation
Singh, who resides in Sector 150 of Noida, revealed that he was summoned to the Knowledge Park police station on Monday following his initial media interviews about the case. According to his account, police personnel instructed him to avoid speaking with journalists for several days until the situation "settled down."
"I was called to the police station, and they forcefully recorded another video of me after giving me a script," Singh alleged. "I was made to sit in a park near the police station for more than four hours while this occurred."
The delivery executive described how three to four policemen escorted him to a nearby park adjacent to the Knowledge Park police station. There, he claims they reprimanded him for speaking to media outlets about what he witnessed.
The Incident and Rescue Attempt
Singh recounted that he was heading to deliver an order around 1:50 AM on Saturday when he noticed police presence at the location where Mehta's car had reportedly plunged into a water-filled pit. According to his estimation, Mehta had already drowned with his submerged vehicle approximately five minutes before Singh arrived at the scene.
Displaying remarkable courage, Singh immediately jumped into the water while wearing a life jacket. He conducted a search that lasted nearly thirty minutes but was unable to locate the software engineer in the challenging conditions.
Police Response and Changing Statements
A senior police officer has categorically denied applying any pressure on the eyewitness. "He was called only to speak regarding the case," the officer stated. "He himself changed his statement and is free to speak to the media or anyone as he wishes."
When contacted for additional comments on Thursday, Singh declined to elaborate further about the video recording incident. However, he did acknowledge that officials "tried their best" to save Yuvraj Mehta during the rescue operation.
Standing by the Truth Despite Pressure
Singh detailed how police personnel verbally dictated specific statements they wanted him to make during the recorded video session. These included claims that officers had entered the water and made every possible effort to rescue the software engineer.
"I was scared at that moment, so I agreed to their demands," Singh admitted. "But later, I decided that as the only eyewitness in this case, I must stand with the truth. My family and local residents are supporting me in this decision."
The delivery executive further alleged that police reminded him he lived in the same area and suggested the case would fade from media attention within "two to three days." This statement has raised questions about potential attempts to minimize public scrutiny of the investigation.
As the sole eyewitness to the tragic incident, Singh's allegations have brought renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding Yuvraj Mehta's death and the subsequent police investigation.
