The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its probe into last month's Red Fort explosion by conducting coordinated searches at multiple locations, including the family home of two accused doctor siblings in Lucknow on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Search at Khandari Bazaar Residence
An NIA team, accompanied by a woman officer, arrived at the Ansari family home located in Khandari Bazaar under the Qaiserbagh police station limits. The search operation lasted for approximately three hours. Family members present during the raid included the siblings' 80-year-old father, Syed Ahmed, a retired government employee, and their elder brother, Mohammad Shoaib. A senior Uttar Pradesh Police officer stated that the NIA team conducted a thorough search but did not disclose if any items were seized. A local police contingent was stationed outside to maintain security.
Arrests and Alleged Terror Module
The raid targeted the family residence of Dr. Shaheen Shahid Ansari (44) and her younger brother, Dr. Parvez Ansari (38). The duo were previously arrested in connection with an alleged "transnational and interstate terror module" that was busted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police last month. The NIA subsequently took over the investigation into the Red Fort blast and arrested Shaheen. Lucknow is one of eight locations where the federal agency carried out synchronized searches as part of this probe. Sources indicate that during the Lucknow operation, the agency collected some documents and electronic gadgets and questioned family members.
Educational and Professional Background of the Accused
Police details reveal the academic and career paths of the accused siblings, which stand in stark contrast to their alleged involvement. Shaheen completed her intermediate studies at Lalbagh Girls' Inter College near her home. She then earned her MBBS and MD degrees from SRN Medical College in Allahabad. After clearing the UPPSC exam, she joined GSVM Medical University in Kanpur in 2006 as an assistant professor in the Pharmacology department. However, she left the institute abruptly in 2013 without informing anyone and later joined the Al Falah School of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in Faridabad.
Her brother, Parvez Ansari, finished his schooling at Islamia Degree College. He pursued his MBBS from Era Medical College in Lucknow and completed his MD in Medicine from a college in Agra. He joined Integral University as a senior resident in 2021 but resigned from his position on November 6, 2025, just weeks before the arrests and raids.
The NIA's actions underscore the widening scope of the investigation into the Red Fort blast, with the agency following leads across state lines and focusing on individuals with professional backgrounds.
