The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the Red Fort car bomb blast case, arresting a key associate of the deceased perpetrator. This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals apprehended in connection with the sophisticated white-collar terror module to nine.
Ninth Arrest in the Terror Module Crackdown
On Thursday, December 19, 2025, the federal anti-terror agency announced the arrest of Yasir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. Dar was apprehended in Delhi and has been charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Investigations have established Dar as an active participant in the conspiracy that led to the devastating explosion near the historic Red Fort on November 10. The blast had claimed 15 lives and left numerous others injured.
Key Conspirator and Oath of Violence
According to an NIA spokesperson, Dar was not merely a peripheral figure. "An active participant in the plot, which claimed 15 lives and left several others injured, Dar had allegedly taken an oath to carry out self-sacrificial operations," the official stated. This revelation underscores the serious nature of the threat posed by the module.
The agency further clarified that Dar was in close contact with other accused, including the deceased bomber, Umar-un-Nabi, and a key conspirator identified as Mufti Irfan. His role is believed to be integral to the planning and execution of the attack.
Expansive Searches and Digital Evidence
Prior to this arrest, the NIA had been conducting a wide-ranging investigation. Earlier in December, the agency carried out extensive searches at the premises of several accused and suspects across Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh.
During these operations, authorities seized numerous digital devices and other incriminating materials crucial to building the case. Similar searches had previously been executed at the Al Falah University premises of prime accused Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, as well as other locations in Faridabad, Haryana.
Unraveling the White-Collar Terror Network
The case, officially described as a white-collar terror module, points to the involvement of educated individuals in planning and facilitating terror activities. The arrest of Dar, following those of professionals like the doctors from Al Falah University, highlights the complex and layered nature of this network.
The NIA's sustained efforts indicate a focused drive to dismantle every strand of this module, from the perpetrators on the ground to the planners and ideologues supporting them from behind the scenes.
With nine individuals now in custody, the investigation into the Red Fort blast continues to develop, as agencies work to establish the full scope of the conspiracy and prevent any future threats.
