NIA Arrests 9th Accused in Delhi Red Fort Bomb Blast Case
NIA arrests 9th accused in Delhi Red Fort bomb blast

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the high-profile Red Fort bomb blast case, arresting a ninth individual linked to the terror attack that shook the national capital last month. The arrest marks a crucial step in unravelling the conspiracy behind the explosion that resulted in multiple casualties.

Ninth Suspect Nabbed in National Capital

On Thursday, the premier anti-terror agency apprehended Yasir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Shopian in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, from New Delhi. He has been formally arrested under the stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. The case is registered as RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

Investigations conducted by the NIA have firmly established Dar's active participation in the plot. According to an official statement from the agency, "NIA investigations have revealed Yasir’s active role in the conspiracy behind the car bomb blast that rocked the national capital on 10th November." The agency further stated that Dar was an active participant who had sworn allegiance and taken an oath to carry out self-sacrificial operations.

Unravelling the Terror Network

The probe has uncovered that Yasir Ahmad Dar was in close contact with other accused persons involved in the case. This network included the deceased perpetrator of the bombing, Umar Un Nabi, as well as another accused identified as Mufti Irfan. These connections point towards a coordinated module behind the attack.

This arrest follows the apprehension earlier this month of Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla from Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, who was the eighth person held in this case. Dr. Malla is accused of providing crucial logistical support to bomber Umar Un Nabi and subsequently destroying evidence related to the terror act.

Widespread Investigation and Module Links

The NIA has been conducting an extensive and wide-ranging investigation since the tragic incident on November 10. The blast occurred near the Lal Quila metro station, claiming 15 lives and injuring several others. The agency has officially treated it as a terrorist attack under the UAPA.

As part of its probe, the NIA has executed searches at numerous locations linked to the accused and suspects. These operations have spanned Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. A notable search was conducted at the Al Falah University complex in Faridabad. During these raids, authorities seized various digital devices and other incriminating materials crucial to the investigation.

Investigators have linked the attack to a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module that allegedly involved radicalised young doctors and handlers operating from across the border. The NIA has emphasized its continued close coordination with central and state agencies to completely trace the conspiracy and identify every individual involved in planning and executing this devastating attack.

The agency remains committed to dismantling the entire network responsible for the Red Fort blast, ensuring that all those complicit face the full force of the law.
