Nephew Arrested for Alleged Burglary Spree at Uncle's Four Delhi Shops
In a shocking incident in southwest Delhi, a 22-year-old man has been apprehended by police for reportedly burgling four of his maternal uncle's confectionery shops in a single day. The arrest follows a detailed investigation that uncovered a tale of familial discord and revenge.
Details of the Burglaries and Police Action
The complainant, a resident of Uttam Nagar, filed a report stating that his four confectionery shops, located in Sector 18, Sector 11, Sector 12, and Sector 4 of Dwarka, were broken into during the early hours of January 31. According to the report, cash, a laptop, and a mobile phone were stolen in the alleged burglaries. Four separate cases were registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, the complainant accused his nephew of being behind the thefts and provided CCTV footage as evidence. The footage purportedly showed the suspect breaking open the shop shutters. DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh stated that based on this footage and technical inputs, a police team tracked the suspect across various locations including Safdarjung, Hauz Khas, Rajapuri, and Dabri. Police noted that the suspect frequently switched off his mobile phone to avoid detection.
Arrest and Confession
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap at the Dabri fruit mandi on February 13 and apprehended the suspect when he arrived there on foot. He was identified as Piyush Tulswani. Initially, Tulswani denied any involvement in the burglaries but allegedly confessed after being confronted with the CCTV evidence.
Tulswani revealed to police that he had been working at his uncle's shop after his father's death in 2022. However, he was reportedly removed from work after being caught embezzling money. Nursing a grudge and seeking revenge over a dispute regarding profits, he allegedly planned the burglaries, leveraging his familiarity with the shop locations.
Method and Recovery
Police said that Tulswani used his brother's scooter to carry out the thefts, making off with cash, a laptop, and a mobile phone. So far, one laptop has been recovered by the authorities. The case highlights the complexities of family disputes escalating into criminal activities, with police continuing their probe into the matter.
