Neighbor Arrested for Heinous Crime Against Toddler in Saharsa
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a person was taken into custody in Saharsa district on Wednesday in connection with the brutal rape of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl. The arrest follows a harrowing sequence of events that began on Tuesday when the child was allegedly abducted while playing outside her house.
Details of the Abduction and Assault
According to the official complaint filed with the authorities, the young victim was playing near the entrance of her family home when the incident unfolded. The 26-year-old accused, identified as a neighbor from the same village, reportedly approached the child and covered her with a towel or gamcha to conceal his actions. He then allegedly picked her up and took her away from the premises, ensuring that no one would suspect foul play due to the covering.
The father of the child provided a chilling account, stating that around 12 noon on Tuesday, he was sleeping inside the house while his daughter played near the door. It was during this time that Rajkumar Sharma, the villager in question, arrived at the spot and executed the abduction. The family remained unaware of the tragedy until a fellow villager alerted them that the child was lying injured near a bamboo grove approximately 1 kilometer from their home.
Discovery and Medical Emergency
Upon receiving the distressing information, family members and local villagers rushed to the location and found the girl unconscious, with her clothes in a dishevelled state. They immediately transported her to Saharsa Sadar Hospital for urgent medical attention. Doctors at the facility conducted a preliminary examination and discovered serious injuries in the child's private parts, accompanied by heavy bleeding that has left her in a critical condition.
After administering primary treatment late on Tuesday night, medical professionals referred the victim to a higher healthcare center in Bhagalpur for more advanced care and specialized treatment. The child remains under intensive observation, with her survival hanging in the balance due to the severity of her injuries.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Law enforcement authorities were notified of the crime around 3:30 pm on Tuesday after reports surfaced that a minor girl had been raped and admitted to the hospital in a serious state. Senior District Police Officer (SDPO) Ajit Kumar confirmed that an investigation was swiftly launched in response to the heinous act.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was dispatched to the crime scene to meticulously collect evidence and gather crucial forensic samples. Based on the initial findings and eyewitness accounts, the police identified and apprehended the accused neighbor. He is currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation to uncover further details and establish the full extent of his involvement in this tragic case.
