In a significant blow to narcotics operations in Madhya Pradesh, the Neemuch Police have unearthed a sprawling illegal cannabis plantation cultivated on government land. The discovery was made in Shivpuriya Chakkiwala village as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug-related activities.
Tip-Off Leads to Major Seizure
Acting on specific intelligence about illicit cultivation, a coordinated police team swiftly moved into action. A joint force from the Manasa and Rampura police stations raided the identified fields. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a massive haul of freshly grown cannabis plants.
The seized contraband weighed a substantial 3 quintals and 25 kilograms, highlighting the sheer scale of the illegal agricultural activity. The plants were reportedly being grown openly on government-owned land, raising serious questions about land encroachment and monitoring.
Organised Network Suspected
Officer in charge of Kukdeshwar police station, Bhim Singh Sisodia, addressed the media following the raid. He stated that the size and sophistication of the plantation indicate the involvement of more than one individual.
"The scale of cultivation suggests it is not the work of a single person. This points towards a possible organised network operating behind this illegal farm," Sisodia explained. The police are now investigating the supply chain, funding, and the individuals responsible for managing the plantation on the encroached land.
Ongoing War on Narcotics
This seizure marks a critical success in Neemuch district's intensified campaign against narcotics. The police's proactive action, based on a tip-off, demonstrates their commitment to rooting out drug sources from the region. The discovery of such a large farm on government property also underscores the need for increased vigilance and patrolling of remote and unused public lands to prevent their misuse for criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend all members of the suspected network. The police are analyzing evidence from the site and pursuing leads to dismantle the entire operation responsible for this illegal cannabis plantation.
