NCB Arrests Factory Owner in Mysuru Drug Investigation
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has made a significant arrest in Mysuru, Karnataka, following a raid on a phenyl manufacturing unit in the Hebbal Industrial Area. The agency apprehended the proprietor of the facility, marking a development in an ongoing narcotics case.
Details of the Arrest and Legal Proceedings
After conducting the raid, NCB officers produced the arrested individual before a Mysuru court, where he was taken into custody. Sources indicate that the team also secured a transit warrant, allowing them to move him to another jurisdiction for further investigation.
An officer revealed that the suspect was transported to the NCB's regional office in Bengaluru for questioning. This move is linked to a narcotics case registered in a north Indian state, where a relative of the accused had previously been arrested.
Search and Evidence Findings
Based on information provided by the accused, the NCB team conducted a thorough search of the Mysuru manufacturing unit. Despite their efforts, no contraband substances were discovered during the operation.
However, the NCB sought custody of the proprietor due to his mobile phone interactions with the arrested suspect in the north Indian case. This led a Magistrate court in Mysuru to issue the transit warrant, facilitating the transfer for further interrogation.
Political Criticism Over the Incident
Meanwhile, Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has strongly criticized the state government in response to these developments. He expressed concern over the NCB raid, which was conducted based on information from a previously arrested suspect, citing it as evidence of a decline in law and order.
Wadiyar claimed, "The city, once renowned for its culture and heritage, is now gaining notoriety due to drug investigations under the Congress government. This is a direct result of weak governance." His remarks highlight growing political tensions surrounding drug-related issues in the region.
The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the connections between the arrested individuals and the broader narcotics network.
