Mysterious Death of Nalanda Woman Sparks Murder Allegations and Police Probe
A tragic incident in Bihar's Nalanda district has left a family grieving and authorities scrambling for answers. Rupa Kumari, a resident of Salembad village under the Rahui police station area, died under mysterious circumstances late on Thursday night, sparking serious allegations from her relatives.
Family Alleges Foul Play in Woman's Death
The deceased, identified as Rupa Kumari, wife of Lalan Yadav, fell critically ill at her residence around 9 PM on Thursday. According to police officials, she was initially treated by a local practitioner before being transported to private healthcare facilities in Biharsharif. As her condition continued to deteriorate, medical professionals referred her to Patna for advanced treatment, but she tragically passed away during the journey.
However, Rupa's relatives have presented a starkly different narrative, alleging that she was murdered by her in-laws. This serious accusation has added a layer of complexity to what initially appeared to be a medical emergency, prompting a thorough police investigation.
Police Launch Comprehensive Investigation
Law enforcement authorities received information about the incident around 6:30 AM on Friday, immediately alerting senior officials. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Rahui police station, accompanied by a police team, rushed to the village to initiate a preliminary inquiry.
The investigation gained further momentum when Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar-II) of Biharsharif, visited the spot to supervise the proceedings. Police have taken a meticulous approach, recording statements from multiple sources to piece together the events leading to Rupa's death.
- Statements were recorded from the deceased's brother
- Members from both her parental and matrimonial families were interviewed
- Local witnesses provided their accounts of the incident
- The rural doctor who first attended to Rupa gave his medical perspective
A police official emphasized the importance of forensic evidence, stating, "The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report comes." This scientific approach aims to provide objective clarity amid conflicting narratives.
Forensic Examination and Case Registration
The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital in Biharsharif for a comprehensive autopsy, which will be crucial in determining the precise cause of death. Simultaneously, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has examined the scene for physical evidence that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding Rupa's demise.
Based on a written complaint lodged by the deceased's brother, authorities have registered an unnatural death case (UD Case No. 05/26) at Rahui police station. This formal registration marks the beginning of a structured legal process to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
The case has drawn attention to domestic violence concerns in rural areas while highlighting the challenges police face when medical emergencies intersect with criminal allegations. As the community awaits the autopsy results, questions about Rupa Kumari's final hours remain unanswered, with her family seeking justice through proper legal channels.
