Nagpur Central Prison Thwarts Drug Smuggling Attempt via Slippers
In a significant security breach attempt, authorities at Nagpur Central Prison successfully intercepted an effort to smuggle marijuana into the facility on Tuesday. The contraband was cleverly concealed inside an inmate's slippers during a standard inspection procedure near the main entrance search cell.
Details of the Smuggling Operation
The accused has been identified as Kesari Dhole, a 31-year-old resident of Tumsar in Bhandara district. Dhole is currently serving a sentence at the prison, making this incident particularly concerning for jail administration.
During the routine check, alert prison staff discovered 39 grams of a marijuana-like substance hidden within the sole of Dhole's footwear. The detection was made by Jail Constable Bhagwat Kohale (57), who noticed a strong, distinctive odour of marijuana emanating from the slippers.

Police officials have estimated the value of the seized ganja at approximately Rs 1,000. Additionally, the pair of slippers used in the smuggling attempt was valued at Rs 100, bringing the total worth of confiscated items to Rs 1,100.
