A young labourer in Nagpur met a horrific end after being brutally attacked by his co-workers at his workplace, in a shocking incident stemming from a financial argument. The Kalamna police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt for one of the accused.
Financial Argument Turns Fatal
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Mahesh Dahare, a resident of the Chikhli slum area in Kalamna. According to the police complaint filed by his elder brother, Dharmendra Dahare (24), the tragedy unfolded after Mahesh had a heated argument with two of his co-workers on Tuesday night, December 3.
The dispute was reportedly over a financial transaction. The co-workers, named as Chandresh alias Ranu Verma and Ritik Nandeshwar—who also live in the same Chikhli slum—allegedly abused Mahesh and threatened to kill him following the argument.
Brutal Nighttime Attack at Workplace
The situation escalated tragically later that night. Between 9 pm on December 3 and 8 am on December 4, while Mahesh was sleeping at his workplace—the Yuvraj Swami Ara Machine premises in Bharatwada—the two accused allegedly carried out their threat.
In a brutal assault, they attacked the sleeping man with stones, targeting his head and face. The force of the attack was so severe that it crushed him, leading to his death. The premises, under the jurisdiction of the Kalamna police, became the scene of the gruesome crime.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Acting on the complaint lodged on December 4, the Kalamna police swiftly registered a case of murder. The charges have been framed under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the new penal code.
In a follow-up operation, the police have managed to arrest one of the accused, Chandresh alias Ranu Verma. However, his alleged accomplice, Ritik Nandeshwar, remains at large. A search is currently underway to apprehend him.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Bharatwada and the Chikhli slum, highlighting a violent escalation of a personal dispute into a fatal crime. The investigation is ongoing as police probe deeper into the exact nature of the financial transaction that triggered the argument.
