Decomposed Female Body Discovered in Locked Nagpur Farm Room, Foul Play Suspected

In a disturbing incident in north Nagpur, the highly decomposed body of a woman, estimated to be around 35 years old, was found inside a locked room at a private farm in the Nara Vasti area of Jaripatka on Sunday morning. The discovery has immediately raised strong suspicions of foul play, with senior police officials indicating the possibility of a rape and murder case.

Discovery by Farm Helper Leads to Gruesome Find

The matter came to light at approximately 7 AM when Sonu, also known as Golu Jibhe (30), a helper employed at the farm for the past decade, informed the property owner Moreshwar Talekar (63) about spotting a half-naked woman's body in room number 4. Talekar, a resident of Nara Vasti, rushed to the location and encountered a horrifying scene: the body was severely infested with maggots, indicating significant decomposition over several days.

The farm property spans seven acres, with a portion leased for a brick kiln operation. Five rooms on the premises are typically used for storing cattle fodder, though some have been occupied by tenants. The isolated nature of the storeroom where the body was found, combined with reports of broken doors in some rooms and limited regular oversight, has raised critical questions about how the woman ended up in such a remote location.

Police Response and Initial Investigation Findings

Upon being alerted by the owner, Jaripatka police station officers promptly arrived at the scene. They thoroughly documented the area before shifting the body to Mayo Hospital for a detailed autopsy and further forensic procedures. Initially, police have registered the case as an accidental death, but senior officials have openly expressed suspicions of more sinister circumstances.

Zonal DCP Sandeep Pakhale provided preliminary details, noting that the body appeared to be wrapped in traditional attire, possibly a saree. "The decomposition was so advanced that any visible injuries were obliterated," Pakhale stated. "The autopsy will be crucial in determining the exact cause of death." He added that police have obtained some leads regarding the woman's identification, though formal confirmation is pending.

Suspicions of Rape and Murder Under Active Investigation

Preliminary investigation suggests the woman died approximately four days prior to discovery, potentially around the time of Holi celebrations. A police source revealed, "We suspect she had a companion who spent time with her in the isolated storeroom before her death." This theory has strengthened suspicions that this could be a case of rape followed by murder.

Authorities are pursuing multiple investigative avenues simultaneously:

  • Questioning the farm helper Sonu, various tenants, and landowner Moreshwar Talekar
  • Examining any available CCTV footage from the vicinity
  • Collecting and analyzing forensic evidence from the scene
  • Awaiting comprehensive autopsy results to establish cause of death and identify potential injuries

The Jaripatka police continue their investigation as the community awaits answers about this tragic discovery in Nagpur's northern outskirts.
