Nagpur Family Feud Turns Violent with Stones and Gunshots
A bitter family dispute in Nagpur erupted into a violent confrontation late Saturday night. The incident involved stone-pelting, property damage, and the firing of warning shots. Police have since made arrests as tensions boiled over in the Gaurishankar Nagar area under the Kalamna police station limits.
Dinner Interrupted by Threats and Violence
Hanumandin Sahu, a 51-year-old security guard, was having dinner with his family around 10:30 PM on Saturday. Hanumandin works with a bank's currency transportation team and possesses a licensed double-barrel gun. Suddenly, a group led by his relative, Raja Baldev Prasad Sahu, arrived at his house.
Raja, who is 47 years old and lives opposite Hanumandin, came with his son Tushar, wife Komal, and nephews. The group immediately started hurling abuses and making death threats. They accused Hanumandin of defaming their family in their native village in Uttar Pradesh.
Raja was reportedly angry because Hanumandin had spread rumours about his family members among their relatives. The situation quickly escalated from verbal abuse to physical violence.
Stones Fly and Warning Shots Are Fired
The visiting group began pelting stones at Hanumandin's house. They shattered the front windscreen of his vehicle, scattering glass pieces everywhere. Fearing for his life and the safety of his wife and children, Hanumandin took action.
He loaded two cartridges into his licensed gun and fired two warning shots into the air from inside his locked house. The gunshots caused the attacking group to flee the scene immediately. In retaliation, Hanumandin and his family members threw stones at a car parked in front of Raja's house, causing damage.
Police Intervention and Arrests
Local residents reported the noise and gunshots to the police, who arrived at the scene later. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on either side during the violent exchange.
On Sunday, both Hanumandin and Raja filed detailed written complaints against each other at the Kalamna police station. Their complaints included charges of criminal intimidation, threats to life, and mischief by damaging property.
Kalamna police registered a case based on the complaints and dispatched teams to trace and question the accused. Police have arrested Hanumandin and his son, while also taking action against Raja's relatives. The investigation continues as authorities work to resolve the long-standing family dispute that turned dangerously violent.
