Nagpur Crime Branch Solves Scooter Theft, Juveniles Held

The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has successfully cracked a two-month-old vehicle theft case, leading to the apprehension of two juveniles who were in conflict with the law. The breakthrough came during a routine patrol, culminating in the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Details of the Theft and Police Action

The case dates back to October 1, when Nitin Bhapkar (32), a resident of Pratap Nagar, filed a formal complaint. He reported that his scooter was stolen after he had parked it near a showroom situated on Beltarodi Road. Following his complaint, the Beltarodi police station registered a case under the relevant Section 303(2) BNS and initiated an investigation.

Patrol Leads to Breakthrough

The turning point arrived on December 7. While conducting patrols within the limits of Pratap Nagar, vigilant police officers noticed a two-wheeler moving with a defaced number plate. This suspicious detail prompted them to intercept the vehicle and question its rider, who was a juvenile.

Upon questioning, the juvenile rider confessed to his involvement in the theft of Nitin Bhapkar's scooter. He also named an accomplice, leading the police to the second juvenile involved in the crime. The police team acted swiftly and managed to recover not only the stolen scooter but also another two-wheeler that was allegedly used during the commission of the offence.

Case Handed Over for Further Proceedings

Following the apprehension and recovery, the two juveniles, along with the seized vehicles, were formally handed over to the Beltarodi police station. The local police will now take over the case for further legal proceedings as per the provisions of the law dealing with juveniles.

This incident highlights the effectiveness of proactive policing and alertness during routine patrols. The Nagpur Crime Branch's action has brought closure to a two-month-old case and restored the stolen property to its rightful owner.
