Nagaur Police Freeze Lavish Rs 1 Crore House Funded by Drug Trafficking
Police in Nagaur district have taken decisive action by freezing a residential property valued at over Rs 1 crore, which was allegedly constructed using illicit proceeds from drug trafficking. Officials confirmed the move on Saturday, highlighting a significant crackdown on narcotics-related financial assets.
Accused Identified as Inter-State Drug Trafficker
Superintendent of Police Roshan Meena identified the accused as Govind Ram, also known as Govind Jat, a resident of Barani. Ram is alleged to be an inter-state drug trafficker with a substantial criminal record. According to police, he used earnings from the narcotics trade to build a lavish house and registered the property in the name of his wife, Mooli Devi, in an attempt to conceal the illegal origins of the funds.
Operation Sankalp Targets Drug Networks
The property freeze was executed under Section 68F of the NDPS Act as part of "Operation Sankalp", an ongoing district-wide campaign against illegal narcotics. Investigations revealed that Ram purchased two adjacent plots—numbers 39 and 40—in Star City, located on the Didwana-Bikaner bypass. He then constructed an opulent residence on this land, entirely funded through drug trafficking proceeds.
Technical evidence gathered during the probe conclusively established that the property was financed by illegal income. Police noted that four serious cases under the NDPS Act are already registered against Ram at various police stations across Rajasthan, underscoring his involvement in the drug trade.
Legal Process and Broader Crackdown
The proposal to freeze the property was initiated by the Kotwali police station and forwarded to the competent authority in Delhi. After a thorough examination, the authority confirmed the freezing order on Friday. This action is part of a larger effort to dismantle drug networks by targeting their financial assets. In the past month alone, Nagaur police have frozen:
- Two houses linked to narcotics trafficking
- Two luxury vehicles connected to the illegal trade
Supervision and Team Effort
The operation was supervised by senior officers, including Additional Superintendent of Police Asharam Choudhary and Assistant Superintendent of Police Jatin Jain. It was led by Kotwali Station House Officer Vedpal Shivran, who coordinated with a dedicated team of police personnel to ensure the successful execution of the freeze.
Officials emphasized that this crackdown reflects a strategic shift towards disrupting the economic foundations of drug cartels, aiming to curb the flow of illicit funds and deter future trafficking activities in the region.
