Mohali Domestic Help Faces Serious Charges After Alleged Gold Bracelet Theft and Violent Confrontation
In a shocking incident from Mohali, a woman employed as a domestic helper has been formally charged with robbery and attempt to murder. The case stems from allegations that she stole valuable gold bracelets from her employer's residence and subsequently attempted to strangle the homeowner during a confrontation before making her escape.
Incident Reported from Zirakpur Housing Society
The disturbing event was reported from a residential housing society situated on Nagla Road in Zirakpur, which falls under the jurisdiction of Mohali. Authorities from the Zirakpur police station have registered a formal case against the accused, identified as Rinki Rani. This legal action was initiated based on a detailed complaint filed by the homeowner, Shashi Kant Sharma.
Police officials have confirmed that an active search operation has been launched to locate and apprehend Rinki Rani, who remains at large following the alleged crimes.
Details of the Alleged Theft and Confrontation
According to the complaint submitted by Shashi Kant Sharma, the sequence of events began around the occasion of Maha Shivratri. His wife had securely stored her gold bracelets inside a cupboard in their flat as part of the customary practices for the festival. However, on February 19th, when the family checked the cupboard, they discovered that the bracelets were missing.
Sharma provided a critical detail to the police, stating that during the period in question, no outsiders had accessed their flat. The only individual who had entered the premises was their domestic help, Rinki Rani, making her the primary suspect in the disappearance of the jewellery.
The situation escalated dramatically when Sharma confronted Rinki Rani about the missing gold bracelets. He alleged that instead of providing an explanation, she reacted violently by attempting to strangle him. Following this aggressive act, she quickly fled the scene, leaving the homeowner shaken and the jewellery still unaccounted for.
Accused's Behavior and Ongoing Police Investigation
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Rinki Rani ceased reporting for her duties at the Sharma household. She reportedly contacted the family to inform them that she would only resume work after the Holi festival, offering no further clarification or addressing the allegations against her.
Adding a layer of complexity to the case, other residents of the housing society have come forward with information. They reportedly informed the complainant that Rinki Rani has continued to work as a domestic help in their homes, suggesting she has not left the local area entirely.
The Zirakpur police are treating this as a serious matter, combining charges of robbery with the grave accusation of attempt to murder. The investigation is ongoing, with officers diligently pursuing all leads to track down the accused and recover the stolen property. This incident has raised concerns about security and trust within residential communities employing domestic staff.
