Body of Missing Youth Discovered in Nalanda; Family Alleges Murder Over Illicit Relationship
Patna: In a tragic development, the body of a 25-year-old youth, who had been missing since March 4, was found near a pond in the Silao police station area of Nalanda district on Saturday morning. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, with the victim's family alleging that he was murdered over an illicit relationship with a girl.
Victim Identified and Family's Allegations
The deceased has been identified as Mannu Kumar, also known as Mani, a resident of Panki village in Nalanda. According to distraught family members, Mannu had been in a relationship with a girl from the same village, who was also his cousin. The girl's family reportedly disapproved of the relationship, leading to frequent tensions and disputes between the two families.
Mannu's brother, Sunny Kumar, has made serious accusations, claiming that several villagers were involved in the killing. He stated that on the evening of March 4, Mannu was found with his cousin on a rooftop, which sparked a heated dispute. Sunny alleges that this confrontation ultimately led to Mannu's murder, with the family suspecting the motive was directly linked to the illicit relationship.
Police Response and Investigation Details
Police had visited Panki village on the evening of March 4 following a report of a domestic dispute. Officers counselled the family before departing, but the incident allegedly occurred soon after their departure, raising questions about the timing and circumstances.
Upon being informed about the discovery of the body, Rajgir DSP Sunil Kumar Singh promptly reached the spot with a police team. The body was sent to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
DSP Singh provided an update on the investigation, stating, "Prima facie, the case appears to be related to an illicit relationship. Police have launched a thorough investigation and are conducting raids to apprehend the accused. An FSL team has also visited the spot and collected crucial evidence to aid in the probe."
