Tragic Discovery in Kundri Village
The body of an eight-year-old boy, who had been missing for two days, was tragically discovered in a well on Wednesday morning in Daltonganj district. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Kundri village, located under the jurisdiction of the Lesliganj police station.
Desperate Search Ends in Heartbreak
The deceased has been identified as Vivek Verma, a young resident of Kundri village. According to his family, Vivek was last seen alive on Monday evening, happily flying a kite near his home. When he failed to return, his family grew increasingly worried.
His mother, Pratima Devi, officially lodged a missing person complaint with the Lesliganj police station on Tuesday. The police immediately launched a search operation. On November 18, the authorities even deployed a sniffer dog in an attempt to track the boy's scent, but the extensive efforts proved unsuccessful.
Official Statement and Suspected Cause
Uttam Kumar Rai, the officer in-charge of Lesliganj police station, confirmed the grim discovery. The boy's body was found in the well at approximately 6 am on Wednesday.
Officer Rai stated that, based on the initial investigation, it appears to be a case of accidental drowning. He highlighted a critical safety lapse, noting that the well did not have a protective parapet wall around it, which could have prevented the tragedy.
The case adds a layer of hardship for the family, as Vivek's father, Rampravesh, is a migrant worker, often away from home.
