Prayagraj: A minor girl was allegedly strangled to death by her lover in Purab Sharira village under the limits of Paschim Sarira police station in Kaushambi district late on Tuesday night. The accused surrendered before the police at the station and confessed to his crime.
Incident Details
Family members informed the police that their 15-year-old daughter had left home on Tuesday afternoon to work in the fields but did not return until late at night. While the police and family were searching for the girl, the accused arrived at the police station and confessed that he had strangled her with her dupatta. The body of the girl was recovered based on his information.
Investigation Underway
Following the confession, a joint team of police and forensic experts rushed to the spot and collected evidence. Initial police investigations revealed that the accused and the victim were in a love affair. However, the reason behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.
