Migrant Worker Brutally Killed in Kerala Mob Attack Over Theft Suspicions
In a shocking incident of mob violence, a 40-year-old migrant worker from Assam was beaten to death early Wednesday morning at a plywood unit in Mudickal, near Perumbavoor, Kerala. The victim, identified as Nurul Hussain, a native of Nagaon district in Assam, was allegedly assaulted by six fellow workers who accused him of theft.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to police reports, the fatal attack occurred around 6 a.m. at the workers' living quarters associated with the plywood unit. The suspects, all migrant workers from Assam employed at nearby plywood factories, confronted Hussain after suspecting him of stealing seven mobile phones and approximately Rs 73,000 in cash. In a brutal assault, they confined him inside a room and attacked him with sticks and other objects, leading to his death at the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded after being notified by hospital officials. All six accused workers were taken into custody, interrogated, and subsequently arrested. The arrested individuals have been identified as Alavudheen (32), Jakir Hussain (42), Habeebudheen (32), Musammil Haque (27), Hachen Ali (37), and Minarul (32), all hailing from Nagaon, Assam.
Legal Actions and Charges Filed
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of murder, unlawful assembly, and wrongful confinement against the six accused. In a separate development, police have also filed a theft case against the deceased, Nurul Hussain, alleging that he trespassed into the workers' quarters and stole mobile phones worth around Rs 1.75 lakh along with the cash.
