Police in Meerut have made a shocking arrest. A woman and her lover face charges for the alleged murder of her husband. Authorities say they tried to disguise the killing as a tragic railway accident in Amroha district.
The Arrest and the Alleged Crime
Officers took Sangeeta Singh and Narsingh Dev into custody on Thursday. Both individuals are in their early thirties. The victim was Sangeeta's husband, Tinku Singh, aged thirty-five.
Investigators revealed a troubling backstory. Sangeeta and Dev were in a relationship before her marriage to Tinku six years ago. Despite the wedding, their affair continued secretly.
A Deceptive Friendship and a Deadly Plan
Sangeeta introduced Dev to her husband. Both men worked as marginal laborers. Over time, they developed a friendship. This friendship, however, masked a sinister plot.
Additional SP Akhilesh Bhadauria provided details of the alleged conspiracy. "Sangeeta and Dev hatched a plan to eliminate Tinku," he stated. Their method was brutal. They intended to push him in front of a moving train.
The plan unfolded on Tuesday night. Dev first made Tinku intoxicated. He then led the unsuspecting man to the railway tracks. Their wait for a train proved unexpectedly long.
The Gruesome Act and Failed Cover-Up
When no train arrived, Dev allegedly took direct action. Police claim he strangled Tinku to death. To conceal the crime, he placed the body on the railway tracks. The scene was staged to look like a fatal train accident.
The cover-up did not last. A routine post-mortem examination told a different story. Medical evidence confirmed the cause of death was strangulation, not a train impact. This finding immediately raised police suspicion.
Confession and Legal Action
Confronted with the evidence, both accused individuals have allegedly confessed to the crime. They admitted to the murder and the attempted deception.
Police have registered a formal First Information Report against Sangeeta Singh and Narsingh Dev. The charges are severe. They face accusations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and criminal conspiracy. The case is now proceeding through the legal system.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Amroha district. It highlights a grim case of betrayal and premeditated violence.
