Meerut Confectionery Shop Owner Fatally Shot in Late Night Incident
In a shocking late-night incident, a 40-year-old confectionery shop owner was shot dead near Kurali Dharamshala on Baghpat road in Meerut. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday night, sending ripples of fear through the local community.
Discovery of the Crime Scene
The incident came to light around 10:45 PM when a customer arrived at the shop and discovered Naresh Kumar, a resident of Kurali village, lying in a pool of blood at the entrance. The customer immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene.
Police officers took custody of the body and informed Kumar's family members about the devastating news. During their initial examination of the crime scene, investigators recovered two .32 bore empty cartridges, providing crucial evidence about the weapon used in the attack.
Police Investigation Points to Monetary Dispute
SHO Akhilesh Mishra provided insights into the ongoing investigation, stating that preliminary findings suggest the murder may have originated from a monetary dispute with a customer. "The assailant shot Naresh in the head," Mishra explained. "There is no evidence of any rivalry or old enmity at this stage. It's noteworthy that only Naresh's shop was open in the area at that time."
The police are currently examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify potential suspects and gather more information about the events leading up to the shooting. This digital evidence could prove vital in tracking down the perpetrator.
Post-Mortem and Family Handover
The body was transported for a post-mortem examination on Sunday, following standard investigative procedures. After the necessary medical formalities were completed, authorities handed over the remains to Kumar's grieving family members.
The murder has left the local business community unsettled, particularly those operating shops in the vicinity of Kurali Dharamshala. Residents have expressed concern about safety in the area, especially during late hours when fewer establishments remain open.
Police continue their investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding the monetary dispute that allegedly led to the fatal shooting. Authorities are interviewing potential witnesses and reviewing all available evidence to build a comprehensive case.
