Meerut Couple Brutally Murdered in Property Dispute, Neighbor Arrested
A horrific double murder in Meerut's Civil Lines area has left residents in shock after a couple was stabbed to death in front of their three children. The incident, which occurred in the Chakkar Ki Milak locality, stemmed from a long-standing property dispute.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The victims have been identified as Raja Ahmad, 35, a brass polisher, and his wife Farah, 32. According to SSP Satpal Antil, the dispute began about a year ago when Ahmad purchased a one-room house along the Ramganga riverbank from his neighbor, Faheem. Ahmad paid Rs 2 lakh of the total Rs 2.2 lakh price to take possession, living there with Farah and their children: Afsha (8), Atif (5), and Abbas (1.5). However, the legal registration of the property remained pending.
Escalation of the Conflict
Tensions recently escalated when Faheem allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 to finalize the registry, nearly double the remaining balance of Rs 24,000. The situation reached a breaking point on Monday night when the accused and his associates forcibly entered Ahmad's home. They began assaulting Ahmad, and when Farah tried to intervene, the attackers turned on her. Both were repeatedly stabbed with knives in front of their terrified children.
Neighbors, hearing the commotion, arrived at the scene, but the attackers had already fled. Ahmad and Farah were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Police Response and Investigation
Senior police officials, including DIG G Muniraj and SSP Satpal Antil, arrived on-site to oversee the investigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence, and police units have been formed to conduct raids across the region. SSP Antil confirmed that the key accused, Mohd Faheem, has been arrested and is under interrogation.
The incident has sparked panic among local residents, highlighting concerns over property disputes and community safety. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities as the investigation continues.
