A tragic road accident in Bhopal on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a young MBA student and left her friend seriously injured. The incident occurred on the under-construction Gyarah Meel–Bangrasia Road in Misrod, highlighting the dangers of such stretches.
Details of the Bhopal Road Accident
The collision took place around 3:30 pm near IPER College in Deepdi village. According to police, the victims were two college students riding a scooter. A new truck chassis, which did not have a registration number, rammed into their vehicle from behind. The impact was severe, throwing both young women onto the road. Tragically, they were then run over by the same truck chassis.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Pooja Goria, a resident of Ashoka Garden. She was a first-semester MBA student at a private university and was returning home after appearing for a semester examination. Her friend, Sakshi Rajput, was riding the scooter with her and sustained injuries.
In a swift act of humanity, a motorist named Virendra Singh witnessed the aftermath. He was driving behind the truck while returning from Bhojpur. Singh stopped his car, removed the scooter that was stuck under the truck chassis, and personally rushed both injured girls to AIIMS Bhopal for emergency medical care.
Police Investigation and Search for Driver
Investigation Officer ASI Amod Sharma confirmed that the police have seized the offending truck chassis. However, the driver of the vehicle fled the spot immediately after the accident. A search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the absconding driver. The case underscores the critical issue of unregistered vehicles and reckless driving on Indian roads, especially near educational institutions and construction zones.
