According to police reports, between 2.10 am and 2.30 am on January 20, two accused individuals, identified as Moyidin Naseer and Abdul Samad, allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle parked near the house of the complainant, Deviprasad. Deviprasad, a 22-year-old resident of Marodi village in Belthangady taluk, at Palaragoli in Marodi village, intervened to stop the theft. In response, the accused allegedly assaulted him and tried to flee with the motorcycle. Based on Deviprasad's complaint, the Venoor police station registered a case under Sections 303(2) and 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), highlighting the serious nature of the charges related to theft and assault.

Related Complaint of Unlawful Assembly and Threats

In a related development, another complaint was filed by Abdul Samad, a 29-year-old resident of Bengre. He alleged that during the incident, an unlawful assembly of approximately 25 to 30 people gathered around him and his friend. The group reportedly surrounded them, used obscene language to abuse them, assaulted them with hands and wooden sticks, tied them to a tree, and issued death threats. This complaint led to the registration of a separate case at the Venoor police station under multiple sections of the BNS, including Sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 352, 115(2), 118(1), and 351(2) read with Section 190, indicating a range of offenses from unlawful assembly to assault and threats.
