Mangaluru police have arrested a notorious rowdy sheeter under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) following a tip-off from the public. The accused, identified as Manoj, is a habitual offender with a long criminal record.
Details of the Arrest
Acting on credible information provided by local residents, a police team apprehended Manoj from a hideout in the city. The arrest was part of an ongoing crackdown on organized crime in the region.
Criminal History
According to police officials, Manoj has a total of 19 criminal cases registered against him across different jurisdictions. Of these, 17 cases are in Mangaluru city, while the remaining two are in Udupi district. The cases include charges of robbery, assault, and extortion.
Legal Action
The police have invoked the stringent KCOCA provisions to ensure that Manoj remains in custody and cannot pose a threat to public safety. Authorities are investigating his possible links to larger criminal networks.
