Man Strangles Sister Over Affair, Surrenders in Fatehpur

Prayagraj: A 22-year-old man allegedly strangled his married sister (19) to death and dumped her body inside a dry well in Haswa area in neighbouring Fatehpur and later surrendered before the police.

The accused, Sandeep Yadav of Dhanwa Bazar (Thariyon), alleged that his sister was having an affair with a local man and was planning to elope with him. He also told police that she had previously eloped with the same man once before her marriage.

Despite this, Sandeep arranged her marriage to a man from Sonai Badanpur village on May 1. However, according to police, the woman did not want to continue the marriage and allegedly told her brother she would neither stay with her husband nor return home.

Police said Sandeep, who works in Ahmedabad, reached her marital home on June 10 and tried to persuade her. On the night of June 12, he allegedly took her in an autorickshaw, got off near Bilanda Bridge, and walked along a canal path to a wooded area in Haswa village. During questioning, he told investigators that he again tried to convince her, but when she refused, he strangled her and threw the body in a nearby well.

Sandeep later walked into the Haswa police outpost on Saturday morning and confessed, telling officers, “I have killed my sister. Her body is lying in a well.” Police said further investigation is underway.
