In a dramatic incident at the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura, Border Security Force personnel shot and injured a 27-year-old man on Monday morning. The shooting occurred when the individual was allegedly attempting to smuggle goods into Bangladesh by cutting through the border fence.

The confrontation took place at 10:25 am near BFL numbers 138-139 and Gate No. 10, within the operational area of the C-Company, 97 Battalion of the Brojendranagar Border Outpost. According to police reports, the situation escalated quickly when BSF personnel spotted the suspect tampering with the border security infrastructure.

Victim Identified and Medical Condition

The injured man has been identified as Akash Das, son of late Gopal Das, from Ward No. 2 of Agnipasha Gram Panchayat. During the confrontation with border security forces, Das sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Medical authorities at Dharamnagar District Hospital confirmed that Das is in stable condition. However, doctors suspect that a bullet may be lodged in his abdomen, prompting his transfer to the more advanced AGMC Hospital in Agartala for further treatment and possible surgery.

Tension and Aftermath in Border Area

The shooting incident has created significant tension in the Brojendranagar area of North Tripura district. Local residents and authorities have been on high alert following the confrontation between border security forces and the alleged smuggler.

Despite the initial unrest, authorities report that the situation is now under control. Border Security Force officials have intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent any further incidents of smuggling or border violations.
