Etawah Man Murders Minor Sister-in-Law After Marriage, Surrenders to Police
In a shocking and brutal incident in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, a man married his minor sister-in-law before murdering her with a brick late on Saturday night. The accused, identified as Vijay Shakya, later surrendered to the police, causing widespread panic in the local community.
Details of the Crime
The incident occurred near the Phoolan Devi Dadha Jain Dharamshala in the Shahar Kotwali police station area. According to police reports, Vijay Shakya, a resident of the area, took his 17-year-old sister-in-law to a lane approximately 100 metres away from their home. There, he brutally murdered her by crushing her with a brick. After committing the crime, he went directly to the Kotwali police station and surrendered to the authorities.
Background and Investigation
It is reported that when the accused's wife had gone to her maternal home during the Holi festival, he took his wife's cousin to Delhi. After the girl went missing, her family filed a missing person report at the Saifai police station. While police were investigating, Vijay Shakya posted a wedding photograph with the girl on social media, leading to family members calling them to return. Late at night, he returned to Etawah with the girl and murdered her before surrendering.
The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. Inspector in-charge of Kotwali, Yashwant Singh, stated that the accused informed the police about the murder and was taken into custody. He added, "The case is being investigated."
Family and Personal Details
The accused's wife told investigators that they have been married for about six years and both work as labourers. They also have a five-year-old daughter. This tragic event has left the family and local residents in shock, highlighting concerns over domestic violence and crime in the region.
