Man Allegedly Killed by Sister and Nephew Over Financial Dispute in Aligarh
A tragic incident unfolded in Aligarh on Wednesday night, where a 27-year-old man was allegedly killed by his sister and nephew following a dispute over Rs 4,500. The incident occurred in the Nagla Patwari area under the Quarsi police station limits, according to police reports.
Details of the Alleged Murder
Afsar Ahmad, a resident of Shahanshahbad, had an argument with his sister, Shahnaz, over a financial issue that quickly escalated into violence. Police stated that Shahnaz, along with her son and two other individuals, allegedly attacked Afsar with a knife. He was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College but succumbed to his injuries.
Circle officer Sarvam Singh confirmed that efforts are underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events. Four accused, including the sister, have been detained for questioning.
Background of the Sibling Rivalry
Locals revealed that tensions between the siblings had been ongoing for some time, primarily centered around the operation of a canteen at Aligarh Muslim University. The canteen was initially run jointly by Shahnaz and her son but was later taken over by Afsar, which reportedly fueled the conflict.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
In a twist to the case, police reported that the accused allegedly attempted to mislead investigators by claiming that Afsar died by suicide and had stabbed himself. However, the nature of the injuries raised suspicion, prompting a thorough investigation.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's wife, Sazia, a case has been registered against Shahnaz and three others under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities are continuing their probe to gather more evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
