Man Arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for Alleged 6kg Ganja Sale Worth Rs 3 Lakh

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have apprehended a 33-year-old man accused of attempting to sell a substantial quantity of ganja. The arrest occurred in Sillod town, with the seized contraband valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh, according to officials from the anti-narcotics task force on Thursday.

Operation Based on Specific Tip-Off

Acting on a precise tip-off received late Wednesday, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar unit of the anti-narcotics task force swiftly mobilized to set up a trap near City Shakti Kata in Sillod. The operation was meticulously planned to intercept the suspect during the alleged transaction.

The accused, identified as Saddam Yakub Qureshi, aged 33 and a resident of Dhondhaicha area in Sindkheda taluka of Dhule district, was intercepted as he arrived at the location. Upon conducting a search, the police team recovered around 6kg of ganja, which preliminary assessments indicate is of high quality, as stated by a police officer involved in the operation.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

Following the arrest, Saddam Yakub Qureshi was taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the Sillod City police station for further legal proceedings. A formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with specific sections invoked including 8(C), 22(B), and 5(A), which pertain to the possession, sale, and trafficking of narcotic substances.

The successful operation was executed under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police Sainath Thombre and police inspector Geeta Bagwade, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the anti-narcotics task force in combating drug-related crimes in the region.
