The deceased has been identified as Chhotu Kumar, son of Upendra Kumar, originally from Gausnagar village in Sarmera. His engagement ceremony was scheduled for Tuesday, with the marriage planned for April 27, making the incident particularly heartbreaking for his family and community.

However, Suraj later retracted this statement, instead claiming that Chhotu was carrying a country-made pistol that misfired accidentally while he was handling it. This second version aligns with preliminary police findings from the ongoing investigation.

Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque provided details about the investigation, noting that the accidental discharge theory appears consistent with initial evidence. "We are yet to recover the weapon used in the incident," stated SDPO Haque. "The body has been sent for postmortem and forensic examination. We are investigating all angles, including the initial allegation of murder, to ensure we have a complete understanding of what transpired."
