Man Climbs High-Voltage Tower After Domestic Dispute in Buxar, Rescued by Police
A 27-year-old man triggered widespread panic among villagers in Buxar district after scaling a high-voltage electricity tower following a heated argument with his wife. The incident occurred on Sunday at Pasahara village under the jurisdiction of the Itadhi police station, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Dramatic Scene Unfolds as Man Ascends Tower
The man, identified as Suraj Nat, who is married and has two children, climbed the nearly 60-metre-high tower located in close proximity to the village. Eyewitnesses reported that he stood atop the iron structure with his arms outstretched, creating a tense and alarming situation. Fearing a potential fatal accident, villagers quickly gathered at the spot, urgently appealing to him to climb down safely.
Police and Electricity Department Swiftly Intervene
Upon receiving information, a team from the Itadhi police station rushed to the scene. Recognizing the imminent danger, they immediately coordinated with the electricity department to cut power supply to the nearly 200-kV transmission line passing through the tower. This critical step was taken to prevent any risk of electrocution during the rescue operation.
Police officers used loudspeakers to counsel Suraj, urging him to remain calm and assuring him of all necessary help. After nearly an hour of persistent efforts, Suraj finally agreed to descend, bringing immense relief to his family members and the assembled villagers.

Villagers revealed that the incident was triggered by a domestic dispute. Suraj had asked his wife for money, and when she refused, he became angered and allegedly climbed the tower in a fit of rage. Itadhi station house officer Sonu Kumar highlighted the additional peril posed by the overheated iron structure, emphasizing that timely police action and the power shutdown were crucial in averting a potential tragedy.
