Man booked for molesting sister-in-law, demanding nikah halala

A molestation case has been registered against a 32-year-old man in Pilibhit city for allegedly outraging the modesty of his younger brother's wife and repeatedly demanding that she undergo 'nikah halala'.

Victim's Complaint

According to the police complaint filed by the 25-year-old victim, she entered into a love marriage with her husband three years ago in accordance with Muslim traditions. She alleged that her husband's elder brother had been leering at her since the beginning and consistently pressured her husband to give her instant talaq so that he could perform nikah halala with her.

Incident on April 15

The victim stated that on April 15, while her husband was away in another district for work, the accused forcibly grabbed her and touched her inappropriately. When she resisted, he allegedly beat, abused, and threatened her with sexual assault. She managed to free herself after raising an alarm.

Legal Action

The local SHO confirmed that a case was registered under Sections 74 (criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS.
