Man Arrested for Heinous Act of Animal Cruelty in Residential Area

In a shocking incident that has outraged animal lovers, the Coimbatore city police have taken into custody a 31-year-old man for allegedly assaulting four defenseless stray puppies and causing the death of two of them. The brutal attack occurred in the Sivanandha Nagar area on Thursday night, sending waves of anger through the local community.

Gruesome Details of the Puppy Assault Emerge

According to police reports, the accused identified as Jichu Vishnu, a resident of Sivanandha Nagar, targeted the innocent puppies with stones in a violent outburst. Eyewitnesses who observed this cruel act promptly alerted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), triggering an immediate response from animal welfare authorities.

SPCA coordinator Balakrishnan conducted a thorough inspection of the location and reviewed crucial CCTV footage that captured the disturbing incident. "Out of the four puppies that were attacked, two succumbed to their injuries while two others managed to escape from the scene," Balakrishnan confirmed during his investigation.

Postmortem Reveals Extreme Violence

The veterinary examination uncovered the horrifying extent of the violence inflicted upon the young animals. The postmortem report indicated that the puppies suffered severe skull damage, multiple broken limbs and ribs, and significant internal bleeding that ultimately proved fatal.

Based on the evidence collected and the postmortem findings, Balakrishnan filed an official complaint with the Saravanampatti police station on Friday. Law enforcement authorities responded swiftly by registering a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and apprehending the accused.

Criminal Background and Community Concerns

Further investigation into the accused's background revealed concerning patterns of behavior. "During our inquiries, we discovered that Jichu Vishnu has previous petty cases registered against him and is known to be a drug abuser," revealed Balakrishnan. "Additionally, numerous neighbors have described him as a constant nuisance in the community."

Following his arrest, police granted Jichu Vishnu station bail as per legal procedures. The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about animal welfare in urban areas and the need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting stray animals from such brutal attacks.
