Dumka, Jharkhand: A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his father at Kitajhor village in Pakur district on Tuesday night, police said.
Details of the Incident
The accused, identified as Anoop Sardar, allegedly killed his father, Divakar Sardar (60), following a dispute at their residence. According to police, the incident occurred when Anoop called his father, who lived separately, to his house for a discussion on Tuesday night. The conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument, and in a fit of rage, Anoop attacked Divakar with a sickle, resulting in his death on the spot.
Aftermath and Arrest
After committing the murder, the accused reportedly remained seated beside the body throughout the night. Anoop's daughter, Varsha Sardar, alleged that her father was a habitual drunkard and frequently assaulted family members. Neighbors and relatives also described him as having a history of violence, including a previous attempt to burn his wife alive. Police confirmed that the accused confessed to the crime and was sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
The case has shocked the local community, highlighting ongoing issues of domestic violence and substance abuse in the region.
