Ludhiana: Woman stabbed to death by husband over infidelity suspicions
Ludhiana woman killed by husband in domestic violence case

A tragic incident of domestic violence has resulted in the death of a woman in Ludhiana, after she was repeatedly stabbed by her husband. The attack, which occurred in the Sant Nagar area of Haibowal on Saturday, was reportedly driven by the husband's unfounded suspicions of infidelity and domestic frustration.

Details of the Fatal Assault

The victim, identified as Guddi Devi, succumbed to her severe injuries while receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital. According to the police, her husband, Manoj Kumar, launched a violent attack, stabbing her multiple times in the abdomen. Following the assault, the man also turned the weapon on himself, inflicting injuries.

This act of self-harm initially led the police to consider the possibility of a mutual confrontation. However, the investigation took a clear direction after a formal complaint was filed by the victim's daughter, Rinky.

A Marriage Marred by Suspicion and Strain

In her statement to the Haibowal police, Rinky revealed that her mother had married Manoj Kumar four years ago, which was Devi's third marriage. She described a relationship that had grown increasingly volatile. The primary trigger for conflict was Kumar's recurring and baseless suspicion that his wife was being unfaithful.

An additional layer of strain was the couple's reported inability to have a child together. This issue, combined with the persistent accusations, led to frequent and heated arguments within the household, creating a tense and hostile environment.

Legal Proceedings and Police Action

Inspector Varinderpal Singh Uppal, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Haibowal police station, confirmed the nature of the attack and the victim's catastrophic wounds. Neighbours and family members rushed the couple to the hospital, but doctors could not save Guddi Devi.

The police have registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Manoj Kumar under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). While Kumar survived his self-inflicted injuries, he remains under medical supervision. The authorities have stated that he will be taken into police custody immediately upon his discharge from the hospital.

This case highlights the devastating consequences of domestic disputes and unchecked suspicion, culminating in a horrific crime that has left a family shattered.
