Investigating officer Charanjit Singh stated that a police team was patrolling the area when they received a tip-off about drug activity. Acting on the intelligence, the team apprehended Raja in the Bihari Colony vicinity. A thorough search led to the recovery of 308 gm of heroin and Rs 60,150, which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
