Ludhiana: A sweeping counter-terrorism search cleared two major government complexes in the city on Wednesday after an anonymous sender threatened to detonate “human bombs” inside the offices of the deputy commissioner and municipal corporation.
Sixth Hoax Threat in Five Months
The targeted scare marks the sixth hoax bomb threat sent to public offices or schools in the industrial hub over the past five months, exposing a stubborn blind spot for local intelligence units who have yet to trace a single suspect.
Details of the Threat
The latest threat arrived via email to the official portals of both civic departments. Beyond pledging to detonate explosives inside the administration buildings, the sender claimed coordinating blasts would target regional railway lines across the state of Punjab alongside high-profile political figures.
Bomb disposal squads and local police combed both properties quickly following the alert but uncovered no explosives. Additional deputy commissioner of police Dev Singh confirmed the sweeping security sweeps had yielded no suspicious devices.
He said, “The investigation has now been turned over to the cybercrime division to isolate the digital origin of the email.”
