Ludhiana Construction Site Targeted in Audacious Early Morning Heist
In a shocking incident that unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, a gang of seven unidentified miscreants executed a daring robbery at an under-construction site near Jawaddi Bridge in Ludhiana. The thieves managed to overpower a security guard and make off with a substantial haul of 67 kilograms of iron rods, leaving the property owner and authorities scrambling for answers.
Details of the Robbery and Property Ownership
The targeted site is a 450-square-foot property located in Prakash Nagar, owned by Namanpreet Singh, a resident of BRS Nagar. Singh had been using the location for ongoing construction work, which included storing 200 sacks of cement and the stolen iron rods. To protect these valuable materials, he had employed a security guard for night watch duties, a precaution that proved insufficient against the determined gang.
How the Heist Unfolded
According to the complaint filed by Singh, the seven accused arrived at the construction site in the wee hours, swiftly overpowering the lone security guard. The guard was held captive, forced to witness as the group loaded the iron rods into a canter vehicle they had brought for the theft. Once the intruders completed their task and fled the scene, the guard managed to free himself and immediately alerted Singh via a phone call, setting off a chain of investigations.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Dugri police have launched a comprehensive probe into the matter. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Surjeet Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that a case has been registered under Sections 303(2), 331(4), and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). "We are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the vehicle and the accused," he stated, highlighting the ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators. The use of a canter for transportation suggests a premeditated and organized crime, adding urgency to the police's search.
This incident underscores growing concerns about security at construction sites in urban areas, prompting calls for enhanced vigilance and protective measures. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities that might lead to breakthroughs in the case.
