Lucknow Police Marks 6 Years: 20% Drop in Crimes Against Women, Zero Dacoity in 2025
Lucknow Police: 6 Years of Reforms Show Major Gains in Safety

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate celebrated its sixth foundation day on Monday, showcasing significant strides in law enforcement, particularly in women's safety and crime reduction. Marking six years since the system's introduction in the state capital on January 13, 2020, officials reported an estimated 20% decline in crimes against women and a landmark achievement of zero incidents of dacoity in the district during 2025.

Six Years of Reformed and Tech-Driven Policing

Established following a decision by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the commissionerate system aimed to create faster, more effective, and people-centric policing. The foundation day ceremony, with Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna as the chief guest, served as a platform to reflect on the journey of reforms, improved law and order, and technology-driven initiatives.

Police Commissioner Amrendra Sengar stated that the force has delivered tangible results over the past six years, moving beyond reactive measures to proactively target criminal networks and illegal financial channels. Key areas of success include crime control, traffic regulation, VVIP security, and public outreach.

Cybercrime and Women's Safety Take Center Stage

In his address, DGP Rajeev Krishna highlighted the evolution of cybercrime control as a structured priority since 2020. This includes establishing a dedicated cybercrime police station, cyber cells, and help desks in every police station. He stressed the need for specialized training for sub-inspectors to tackle cyber fraud, swiftly freeze defrauded funds, and conduct effective investigations under the IT Act.

The DGP also underlined the critical role of Mission Shakti centres and pink booths. These initiatives not only ensure women's safety but also assist women, especially in rural areas, in accessing government welfare schemes through inter-departmental coordination.

Awards and Recognition for Exemplary Service

The ceremony was also an occasion to honor personnel for their dedication. A total of 150 police personnel received commendation certificates for outstanding contributions in diverse fields such as cybercrime control, women's safety, emergency services, and law and order management. Additionally, 19 personnel were specially felicitated by the DGP.

The event concluded with a traditional ‘bada khana’ at the Police Lines, attended by gazetted officers and personnel from across the district.

Future Vision: Smart, Sensitive, and Trust-Based Policing

Outlining the path ahead, DGP Krishna emphasized that future policing must be smart, sensitive, and rooted in public trust. "Technology is only a means—the real measure of success is how quickly justice and relief reach citizens," he said. He urged officers to set high service benchmarks and maintain heightened digital vigilance to counter misinformation on social media swiftly.

Reiterating the core principles of security, service, and good governance, the DGP affirmed that the ultimate objective of policing must remain public safety and public welfare.
