Latehar Police Crackdown: 66 Arrested, Pakistan Arms Link Uncovered in 2025
Latehar Police Bust Crime Network, Arrest 66, Find Pakistan Link

In a significant blow to organised crime in Jharkhand, the Latehar district police launched a major offensive throughout 2025, resulting in the arrest of 66 individuals linked to criminal activities. Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Gaurav announced that the crackdown will be intensified in the coming year to further dismantle these networks.

Major Haul of Weapons and Arrests

Providing details to the media, SP Kumar Gaurav stated that a total of 23 cases related to organised crime were registered across various police stations in the district between January 1 and December 19, 2025. The police operation yielded a substantial cache of illegal items seized from the arrested miscreants.

The recovered items include:

  • Six country-made bombs
  • Sixteen country-made pistols
  • Three desi kattas (improvised firearms)
  • Eighty-four rounds of live ammunition
  • Three magazines
  • Thirty-nine mobile phones
  • Eight motorcycles

Pakistan Arms Link and International Deportation

In a startling revelation, the investigation traced an international arms connection. An Austrian-made Glock pistol was seized from a hitman associated with the Rahul Singh gang. SP Gaurav explained that during the probe, an arms linkage to Pakistan surfaced.

This connection was further corroborated by gangster Mayank Singh, who was deported to India from Azerbaijan. Singh informed the police that the Glock pistol was part of the arsenal used by the Rahul Singh organised crime network, which had established this foreign arms supply chain.

The Two Major Gangs and Their Leadership

The police identified two primary gangsters orchestrating organised crimes in Latehar, both of whom are currently evading capture. Rahul Dubey (35) from Ramgarh district and Rahul Singh (25) from Latehar district are the key figures.

According to the district police chief, both individuals previously served as hitmen for Aman Sahu, a gangster who was killed in a police encounter in Palamu earlier this year. Following Aman Sahu's death, Dubey and Singh formed their own independent criminal gangs.

When questioned about the size and strength of these gangs, SP Gaurav noted that the number of members is fluid and constantly changes. However, he confirmed that between the two, the Dubey gang is considered far stronger and more formidable.

Continued Fight and Public Appeal

Emphasising the police department's resolve, SP Kumar Gaurav stated they are determined to completely dismantle the organised crime network in the region. He concluded with an appeal for public cooperation, urging citizens to support the police in this ongoing fight to ensure safety and security in Latehar district.
