Land Broker Brutally Murdered in Pakur District

In a shocking incident in the Town Police Station area of Pakur district, Jharkhand, a local land broker named Devraj Sarkar, aged 40, was stabbed to death by a gang of assailants on Wednesday. The attack occurred as Devraj was returning home after celebrating Holi festivities, highlighting a grim turn of events in the region.

Details of the Attack

Eyewitnesses reported that Devraj had stopped at a nearby shop to purchase some items around 3 pm. As he stepped out and began walking towards his house, a group of attackers, who appeared to be lying in wait, suddenly surrounded him. They launched a frenzied knife assault, leaving him critically injured before fleeing the scene as he collapsed to the ground.

Nearby residents, witnessing the brutal attack, rushed the bleeding victim to Sadar Hospital in Sonajhori. However, despite their efforts, doctors declared Devraj dead upon arrival, underscoring the severity of the injuries inflicted.

Police Investigation and Motive

A police team, led by Officer-in-Charge Anil Kumar Gupta of the Town Police Station, promptly visited the crime scene and initiated a thorough investigation. Preliminary probes indicate the involvement of approximately 8 to 10 suspects, with land disputes emerging as the primary motive behind the murder.

Devraj's father, Megh Nath Sarkar, spoke to reporters at Sadar Hospital, revealing that his son had faced previous threats related to property conflicts. "Devraj worked as a land broker and had encountered dangers before over land rows. Someone even attacked our house earlier," he stated, pointing to a history of tensions.

Family and Aftermath

The deceased leaves behind a grieving family, including two sons and a daughter, who are now coping with the tragic loss. Officer-in-Charge Anil Kumar Gupta emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime, stating, "This is a clear case of premeditated murder. We're questioning the locals and trying to identify the culprits to bring them to justice."

The incident has sparked concerns about safety and land-related violence in the area, with authorities intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspects and prevent further such occurrences.
