Lamborghini Driven by Tycoon's Son Crashes in Kanpur, Injuring Three; Driver Flees Scene
A high-speed Lamborghini, allegedly operated by the son of a prominent Kanpur business tycoon, caused a chaotic accident on Sunday afternoon in the Gwal Toli area, resulting in injuries to three individuals. The luxury vehicle first collided with an auto-rickshaw and multiple parked two-wheelers before mounting the footpath and striking a pedestrian, according to police reports.
Sequence of Events and Aftermath
The incident occurred near Ring Crossing when the driver, reportedly heading to park the car, lost control of the black Lamborghini. The vehicle rammed into an auto-rickshaw and a parked Bullet motorcycle on the roadside, then veered onto the footpath, hitting a pedestrian. Following the crash, the driver abandoned the damaged Lamborghini and fled the spot with assistance from associates who arrived promptly, allegedly helping him escape before police could intervene.
Local residents quickly gathered at the scene, surrounding the car in protest as tensions rose. Police have since seized the vehicle and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the driver. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Archana Singh confirmed that one person was injured and is receiving medical treatment, though earlier accounts indicated two people on the Bullet and the pedestrian were hurt.
Police Investigation and Official Statements
Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Srivastava verified that the Lamborghini belongs to business tycoon K K Mishra, and it is alleged that his son was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. Srivastava emphasized that the driver will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. The FIR includes charges under sections related to rash driving, causing grievous hurt by acts endangering life or personal safety, and causing hurt by similar acts.
Archana Singh assured that all evidence will be thoroughly verified during the investigation to ensure accountability. The case highlights concerns over reckless driving by affluent individuals and the swift response from law enforcement to address such incidents in Kanpur.
