Shia Community in Ladakh Stages March in Support of Iran
Hundreds of people marched through the streets of Leh on Monday. They carried placards featuring Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The demonstrators expressed strong solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Protesters Accuse US and Israel of Conspiracy
The marchers openly accused the United States and Israel of conspiring against Iran. Women participated actively in the protest. They held signs and chanted slogans during the march.
The Anjuman Imamia Leh organized this demonstration. This group is an influential Shia organization in the Ladakh region. Protest leaders stated they obtained prior permission from the district administration for the march.
Recent Protests in Kargil Echo Similar Sentiments
Earlier this month, on January 14, massive protests erupted in Kargil. Shia protesters there raised loud slogans against former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Kargil rally was organized under the banner of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust. Sheikh Sadiq Rajai, the chairman of IKMT, led that demonstration. Several women addressed the gathering in Kargil, highlighting community involvement.
These protests reflect growing Shia solidarity with Iran in the Ladakh region. The demonstrations show organized efforts by local religious groups. They highlight geopolitical tensions impacting local communities in India's northern territories.
