Kolkata Police Arrest Punjab Gang in Kabaddi Murder

Police in Kolkata have made a significant breakthrough in a high-profile murder case. They arrested three members of a Punjab-based criminal gang near Howrah railway station late on Sunday night.

Money Trail Leads to Arrests

Investigators tracked the suspects through a detailed financial investigation. They followed a money trail that originated in Punjab and ended at UPI accounts in Kolkata and Howrah. This digital footprint provided crucial evidence for the police operation.

Identities and Roles Revealed

The arrested individuals are all residents of Punjab. Police identified them as Karan Pathak, Tarandeep Singh, and Akashdeep Singh. Authorities have now assigned specific roles to each man in the December 15 killing of kabaddi player Kanwar Digvijay Singh.

Kanwar Digvijay Singh was also known as Rana Balachauria. He died during a match in Mohali under tragic circumstances.

Detailed Attack Reconstruction

According to police investigations, the attackers used a clever ruse to approach their victim. They rode a motorcycle toward Balachauria pretending to want a selfie photograph. Once close enough, they fired four to five bullets at point-blank range. The kabaddi player died immediately at the scene.

Police have established clear roles for each arrested suspect. Karan Pathak allegedly acted as the shooter who opened fire on the player. Tarandeep Singh reportedly rode the motorcycle used in the attack. Akashdeep Singh arranged accommodation for the accused after the murder was committed.

Broader Investigation Context

This arrest comes amid a wider investigation into the killing. Two days after the murder, Punjab Police shot dead Harpinder Singh in an encounter. Authorities identified him as the alleged mastermind behind the attack.

Police had earlier arrested another accused person named Aishdeep Singh. They apprehended him at Delhi airport as part of the same investigation.

The case continues to develop as investigators piece together the complete sequence of events. Police are examining all connections between the arrested individuals and the broader criminal network.
