A bitter business rivalry between two neighbouring garment shops in Kolkata's upscale Park Street area turned violent in the dead of night, culminating in a stabbing incident that left two brothers wounded. The attack, which has sent shockwaves through the local business community, occurred between 2:40 am and 2:50 am on Thursday.
Dispute Over Storage and Customers Turns Violent
According to the police report, the roots of the conflict lay in an ongoing dispute concerning the storage of garments and aggressive tactics to attract customers. What began as a heated argument soon spiralled out of control. The victims have been identified as brothers Md Shahrukh (29) from Taltala and Md Wasim (31).
The brothers alleged that they were assaulted by Sonu alias Shamshad and Sarfaraz. Shahrukh stated that the accused attacked him and his brother with a knife during the altercation. The weapon inflicted serious injuries on Shahrukh's shoulder and legs.
Emergency Response and Hospital Treatment
Following the assault, the injured brothers were rushed to SSKM Hospital for urgent medical attention. They received necessary treatment for their stab wounds. After being stabilised and treated, both victims were discharged from the hospital. The police have registered a case and are investigating the sequence of events that led to the violent escalation.
